I am courious if anyone runs a 2106 with the 340-SE . I plan to use the 340 -SE as the front three and existing HSU ventriloquist vt-12 for the remainder of the 7.1 surrounds. I currently have the VTF2MK2 sub so low end is no problem. Does the Denon blend in well with the 340 ?

I recently picked up a Denon 885(2105 in silver), and run classic 170's, a B&W center, Axiom QS'8 surrounds and a UFW-10 sub with no problem. Very good SQ with both movies and music. I replaced an Outlaw 1050 with it. Power-wise, it has enough for most sane people, but as with most mid-priced receivers could probably benefit from a seperate amp. I'm impressed with the tweakability of the unit....Very good.

I really meant the 2106.

I really meant the 2106.

Pretty much the same thing. The amp in the 2106 allows bi-amping the front main L/R channels, where the 2105 allows you to re-assign the back surround channels to zone 2 duty. Also, the 2106 includes "XM" radio capability. Those are the main changes as far as I can see.......not really significant. Since you will be running 7.1, you won't be taking advantage of the bi-amp feature.

I'd expect the two to have similar performance.

I just placed my order for the 340 SE mains 340 SE center and a set of 170 SE for surrounds along with my ( already owned) VTF2-MK2 should be a great sound. I feel like I did when I knew what I was getting for christmas ( I peeked a lot) and I had to wait to play with my new toys . Can I just sleep untill they get here . Geeez It has only be 2 minutes . Thanks for all of your help with this most diffucult decision . Scott
