I'm interested in purchasing Ascend speakers however, I would like some advice on the configuration. My den is 15x11 (actual den size), with a somewhat open floor plan which extends into the kitchen/living/dinning room. I plan to purchase the Pioneer Elite VSX-74TXVi. I will use this system for my home theater (5.1) and for playing music. I listen to all types of music, jazz, pop, rock, R&B, hip hop etc. The following are my thoughts on a configuration. Please let me know what you recommend. Thanks

Option 1:
HTM-200 fronts
CMT-340 center
HTM-200 surrounds
Hsu STF-2

Option 2:
CBM-170 fronts
CMT-340 center
HTM-200 surrounds
Hsu STF-2

Of your two options I'd go with Option 2 unless the space is so
limited that the fronts have to be wall mounted.

Option 2.

I concur. By all indications, and in all the areas that count, the 170s handily outperform the 200s, particularly if you wait for the new SE model to come out early next year.

The 170's are awesome. I like option 2.

Congratulations! Not to pop any bubbles, but did you ask about any B-Stock units? Of course, if you're going for the new SE units, never mind.
